What we collect, and what we do not.

The short version

You can read every page on this site without telling us anything. If you sign up for the arrival guide, we keep your email address so we can send it to you, and so we can email you when something on the site changes. You can leave at any time and we delete it.

Who is responsible

Custailo is operated by Custailo Limited (NZBN 9429052388170), a New Zealand registered company based in Auckland. Under the Privacy Act 2020 we are the organisation responsible for the information described here.

Privacy questions, requests and complaints go to hello@custailo.com, and the founder answers them personally.

What we collect

Three things go anywhere, and nothing else at present.

We do not ask for your name, your visa status, your passport or immigration file details, your nationality, your date of birth, your income, your employer, or your address. We do not want them and we have no field to put them in. If you send us any of that in an email (please don't), we will only use it to answer you, and we will delete it afterwards. One exception, and only at your request: if you send a correction and ask to be credited, we publish the name you give us on the corrections page. Nothing else you send is published.

Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views, so we can see which guides are actually being read and write more of what is being used. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Cloudflare states that it does not fingerprint visitors by IP address, browser string or any other data, and it does not follow you to other sites. What we see is a count: which pages were viewed, roughly which country a visit came from, the kind of device, and which site linked you here. We cannot pick you out of that, and we do not try.

Cookies. The site sets no cookies of its own, and we run no advertising or social-media trackers. The signup form is provided by beehiiv, our email service, and loads from their servers.

Why we collect it

• Your email address: to send you the arrival guide you asked for, and to send occasional updates when something material on the site changes: a rule, a fee, a figure. That is the entire list.
• What you write to us: to reply, and to fix what you have told us is wrong.
• Technical data: to know which pages are being read so we know what to write next, and to keep the site up and defend it from abuse.

We do not build a profile of you. We do not attempt to work out your visa situation, your circumstances or your intentions from what you read, and we would not act on it if we could. That is exactly the line Custailo does not cross.

Where it goes, and who sees it

The site itself is static and holds nothing. Three providers are involved: beehiiv stores email addresses, Hostinger serves the pages, and Cloudflare counts page views. beehiiv and Cloudflare are US-based, so your address is held on servers outside New Zealand. The page-view counts are counts, not records about people, so there is nothing in them tied to you.

They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes. Beyond them, we would disclose your information only if the law required it, or if it were necessary to protect someone from serious harm.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, run advertising, or share your address with any adviser, agent, school, employer, bank or insurer. Wherever your information is held, the commitments on this page follow it: minimum collection, no selling, deletion when you ask.

How long we keep it

Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it, and then it is deleted.

Correspondence is kept while it is useful for answering you, then deleted. Server logs are kept briefly for security, then discarded.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Write to hello@custailo.com and we will respond as soon as we can and in any case within the statutory period: 20 working days for a request of this kind.

You can unsubscribe from any email we send using the link in that email. It works immediately and we will not ask you why.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first. We would rather fix it. If you are still unhappy, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz. That costs nothing.

If you are outside New Zealand, and most people reading Custailo have not arrived yet, these rights still apply. We work to the Privacy Act 2020 as our standard for everyone, wherever you are reading from. If the law where you live gives you more, write to us and we will do our best to honour it.

If something goes wrong

If personal information we hold is lost or exposed and it is likely to cause serious harm, the Privacy Act requires us to notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected. We will do that, and we will say what happened rather than manage the wording.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will change the date at the top and say what changed, rather than quietly updating the page.

29 August 2026. We added Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookie-free page-view counter, and updated this page to say so before switching it on. Later the same day we shortened the page, cutting repetition and technical detail that was not helping anyone read it. No new personal information is collected, nothing we do with your information changed, and nothing changed about the email addresses we already hold. We also dropped a promise to email the list ahead of any material change. What protects you is the commitment above, that changes are dated and described here, and the one that matters most: your address is not shared with an adviser, agent, recruiter or lender unless you opt in.
